Nobody knows more about veg than Riverford. Founded by Guy Singh-Watson (Best Organic Farmer 2017 and twice BBC Farmer of the Year), we’ve been farming it organically since 1987, choosing varieties for flavour and looking after the soil, wildlife and birds.

The Riverford Field Kitchen was hatched when Guy wished to take the food straight from the farm to the dinner plate. Our menus change daily so that we can make best use of whatever is fresh from the field that week. From carrots, beetroot, purple-sprouting broccoli and cauliflower to the more weird and wonderful cardoons, kohlrabi, radicchio, we are dedicated to creating inspiring dishes which makes veg the star of the plate.

Eating in The Field Kitchen is something to remember. We think great food tastes even better when you enjoy it with other people, so most of our guests will share tables with fellow diners. Uniquely, there is just one sitting and the whole restaurant is served together at the same time, with generous platters of food to pass around and share.

We also have our Field Kitchen Garden, which is just metres away from the restaurant. This is where our Head Gardener Penny works her green-fingered magic and grows a variety of crops for us to have fun with in the restaurant: fresh herbs, radishes, spicy rocket leaves, unusual tomato varieties, strawberries and raspberries for summer desserts, and much more.

Alongside our dining, The Riverford Field Kitchen also runs cookery demo's and gardening workshops. From learning how to cook with seasonal veg, growing your own veg garden and flower arranging, to choux pastry and marmalade workshops. All workshops can be booked on the website
